cactus & barbed wire, plenty of that around here y'all - this is Texas...
i got 'bit' twice trying to get in for a good shot :>

{before}

{after}

creating some photoshop magic post-walk [wandering]

while i'm feeling poetically inspired...

stepping a bit lighter, spirit & soul refreshed...

listening to the haunting melody of this song

even though i'm still trying to find balance/get priorities straight, i
decided to sign up for Misty's 1st online class - Painting Layers,
i haven't felt the desire to dig out my journals or throw paint around in weeks,
hopefully this will be the inspiring push i need (!)

what changes or decisions have you made in your life recently?
what's inspiring you this weekend??

Inspire Me Thursday - 'Dark'

'earthbound'

recent experiment manipulating photos/layers in Photoshop,
trying to achieve a bit of a 'dark' theme, at least for me...

i've been a silent observer the last few weeks, trying to find the calm
in my inner 'storm', it's always been there but sometimes i need
a quiet compass to find it...there's a certain delicious comfort in that
place of stillness, don't you think?

asking lots of questions and listening, always listening....

warming my fingers around hot mugs of pumpkin spice coffee...

reading novels, classic art books, watching 'Ghost Whisperer'
(which inspired the digital piece above)
i'm intrigued by all things spirit, magical and spooky this week...
* * *
hoping to visit y'all real soon. until then,
be well and be inspired...

Best Shot Monday - first entry

"I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down

into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,

how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,

which is what I have been doing all day.

Tell me, what else should I have done?

Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?

Tell me, what is it you plan to do

with your one wild and precious life?"

-- Mary Oliver

I feel like I have so much to say these days and then at times nothing at all.
Life's been a blur this summer compelling me to make 'stills',
I'm trying to capture all the juicy slices of it before they slip away...

I hope that you & yours are well, that you are able to find the time to tenderly nurture your creative spirit, may you find inspiration around every corner...

And...that you are savoring each and every last moment of whatever season
or time in your life, you find yourself in...

And many cups of coffee, at least these days as I continue working on my portfolio....

I just love this quote and my collection of mismatched vintage silver spoons which I've added to slowly the last couple of years, I pick them up here and there. As I select them I try to 'listen' for ones that whisper to me and make me wonder about their past -who used them? when? where? how many conversations or secrets were they privy to?

Some are smooth & plain, others have intricate details, a few are monogrammed. When polished to a high sheen they absolutely sparkle, but I think I prefer the patina they acquire over time with no polishing -- subtle, muted beauty, slightly flawed and imperfect -- much like life sometimes, yes?

Have a wonderfully creative week...
