Illustration Friday - 'Multiple'

ACEO 2.5x3.5, mixed media
(original ink & acrylic illustration on vintage paper mounted on Arches HP)

Nice to be participating in IF this week - it's been awhile. I've been absorbed with my month-long ATC project for February (which you can read about here) and have found that I really like the small format of ATCs and ACEO's.

My little interpretation of 'Multiple' is types of friendships - childhood being the one I chose to depict.

The following list is from Wikipedia regarding types of friendships:

Acquaintance
Romantic friendship
Soulmate
Pen pal
Internet friendship
Comrade
Friends with benefits
Sexualized friendship
Boston marriage
Blood brotherhood
Companionate love
Intimate relationship
Love
Platonic love
Romantic love
Open relationship
Roommate
Spiritual

And a few quotes on friends......

"What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies." -- Aristotle
"The only way to have a friend is to be one." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born." -- Anaïs Nin

Anyhow, here's to friendships, especially the ones I've made online through so many wonderful blogs & creative groups - Cheers!

This is a sweet illustration and an interesting post. Now I need to take that list and check off what categories my friends fall under:>

What a beautiful piece and post Laura! I particularly like the quote by Nin - for some reason that really speaks to me.

I so enjoyed your blog comment - I must confess, I never have tried smelt - I love fish, but the idea of eating the innards and head perturbs me a bit - lol!
