EDM #50 - entryway

landscape hand*book journal, watercolor, cp

edm #50- draw your entryway, journal about it
I decided to sketch the back entrance to our home as I thought it would be easier to do than the front one :) I'ved always loved architecture even simple designs, however this angle ended up being a little tricky due to the perspective! A good likeness was achieved I think but I feel like I missed something. Oh well, the good thing about this is that I captured 'Annabelle' before the high winds and heavy rain got to her yesterday.

Great perspective on this one Laura. A really charming drawing.

Oh you are too kind Andrea, I think this would have fared better in my moleskine - I'm spoiled for those now, all my other sketchbooks are second rate! Anyhow thanks for taking the time to stop in :)

You know I am a lover of architecture and I think you did a splendid job on this! The colouring and feel are sublime! I love the ripples, you captured them perfectly!

This is really nice. Did you do this one in the Moleskine? What is EDM? Is that another group? I really like the "inchies" idea too. Very cool stuff.

Thanks Val - coming from you, that's a real compliment!!! I'm right there with you on architecture, I especially like gothic /neo-gothic and victorian styles :)

Kim thank you too - I love your vintage/medieval pieces and no this wasn't done in my moleskine, it's in my hand*book journal which doesn't have the nice creamy smooth surface like moleskines (can you tell I'm hooked on them?!)

Also, yes there is an EDM group (Everyday Matters by Danny Gregory). They have weekly challenges for drawing every day things. There's a couple of places to post the challenges at Flickr & Yahoo:

and the list can be found here:

Thank you too Kathleen! I guess 'my perspective' on this sketch was off, everyone but me thinks it looks right lol

It sure is a difficult angle to draw, but a very interesting one! I also like architecture. This is beautiful.
