'her instinct', mixed media, 6x12Finally getting a chance to submit something for IF and on the Friday it's posted! I've missed working at something with a bit of a deadline, even if it's self-imposed. This piece started out as a simple pencil sketch, which I scanned in and painted (i use that term loosely, as I have much to learn in this medium, I'm in AWE of all you accomplished digital artists out there)
I like testing things out digitally sometimes, composition, colors, etc, before taking it to canvas or wood. I have to admit I feel a slight wanderlust for working digitally though. No mess, no paint drying out while you tend to a family 'emergency' (ha!) and of course you can erase just like *that*....
I plan on exploring 'her
instinct' further on a wood panel. And....a mini-series of 'red dress' women are in my immediate future as I was prompted by a few local artists to submit to an art gallery here for "
International Women's Day". It's coming up first week of March so stay tuned for more
red-garbed ladies as I hope to donate at least one of my pieces for this special awareness day & cause.
Wish me luck! :>

So lovely!
Great red dress and tribute!
Laura, the red is stunning....and cannot wait to see more in this beautiful hue!
this is gorgeous - i'm anxious to see the other red dress ladies...
Poetry in red ;)
She's very beautiful. I am attracted to her calm expression and the classic pose. This would look really great on a wood panel - so many ways to add texture!
I love your work! ...and red is my favorite colour!
hey sweet laura,
she is a beauty in red!
i know what you mean about the no mess appeal of digital -- cleaning up after oneself -- not a prob -- click a button. don't you wish cleaning the house was that easy!?
xoxo
