mixed media, handmade paperbag journal
Finally getting a chance to post to IF and Inspire Me Thursday and it just happens I was able to combine the two prompts, love when that happens!
This spread was created in my paperbag journal (created from a tutorial from the talented Judy Wise -- you'll have to scroll down a bit at this link as the tute is in her archives) which has been filling up quickly these past few weeks. I'm experimenting with lots of techniques and layout ideas before bringing them to canvas or wood panels which are primed and ready to go. I think with Autumn finally here (that is on the calendar anyway, we're still experiencing fairly warm weather here in south Texas, but nights are slowly cooling off) I'm feeling more creative again after such a hot, hot summer, especially when you're used to cool Midwest summers :>
Have a great weekend!

my god, lovely! congrats.
There's a haunting sadness in her eyes made all the more powerful by the shade of green contrasted with the pink. I sincerely enjoyed. Thank you.
How nice you can do such wonderful artwork and I loved the writing, too. Sincerely, Connie
Great piece Laura!
Wow, this is a beauty! And what serendipity for both prompts to be so close!
Glad you made it through the storms :)
Hi Laura!
I love this spread! -- I keep looking at all of the wonderful shadings in her blouse. Judy Wise is an amazing woman! -- I had the extreme pleasure of connecting with her in New Hampshire last week. I just love everything about her -- she's so talented and very, very wise -- her last name suits are perfectly!

two for one! I haven't done my IF yet. I like this wistfulness of this.
I really like how you worked the text and the image together. This is really great!
This is lovely. The textures are delicious. So juicy like a strawberry. (Did that sound as silly as I thought? Oh well).
I like this illustration quite a lot!!

Super exquisite and soulful Laura! I really love it :)
What a really beautiful spread! I love the pinks and the textures, and the text gives voice to her expression. I also enjoy jounraling as a way to generate idea for paintings... there's a wonderful freedom in that process that allows you to play! Happy Autumn!
