'Muse Monday' - coming soon

My studio will be in transition mode the next 4-6 weeks as I downsize into a smaller (but brand new!) space so to help me stay focused, I've decided to try and find creative ways to use all the little bits of stuff that I'm finding as I wade through 5 years of stationery, art and craft supplies (!)

I'll be posting my finds and what I did with them, before and after, that sort of thing on Mondays, soon to be known as 'Muse Monday' - title of which I've already shortened to keep things simplified!!

A hint at things to come:
I started in on a corner of the studio this morning and found a bag of paint chip swatches from like 3 years ago, I collect those things what can I say *smile*, lots of yummy colors and textures. This little swatch above (2x2) in particular though had an amazing texture as well, sandpaper-ish, and I've been wanting to try a technique that I came across recently using colored pencils on sandpaper - so there was the connection :) I spent about 10 minutes on this and loved the results.

I'm also very much into remodelling pics, how-to's, storage & display ideas so I'll be sharing that with everyone as well as I go along. It's gonna get messy and it might not be pretty at times, lol, but I'm hoping to make this fun and productive. It's an exciting project but I also know that some parts of it won't be, so I'm looking forward to Muse Monday to help me get through the not-so-exciting parts. Would love for you to join me here!

Oh, since I am in the process of re-thinking my office and studio space, I will so appreciate any hints you pass along!

Hi Laura,
Oh how exciting that you are redoing your space--you will feel so good when you are finished. I redid my space this past winter--huge job, but I love being in the space now.

I love what you did with the paint chip--so clever--and that is just the perfect apple!!!

Thanks for the comment on my blog--I reworked the piece quite a bit today--it just didn't feel finished. If you get a chance, check out the new version on my blog and tell me which one you like better. I would love to know what you think.

Happy Sunday!!!

Hello Laura! Exciting stuff re-doing your studio. I don't have a studio in this house, no room of my own, and I work from suitcases that I roll out of the laundry room to the kitchen table! ha So trust me, I am the queen cutting back & maximizing small storage! Good luck with your quest!

Oh, Laura, you are so lucky to be getting a new studio! I wish I had one! I often work on the dining room table, or in my bedroom where the computer is.

And I just love your apple! The color is just perfect, and such a good job drawing it! Wow!

Thanks everyone! Exciting yes and necessary for sure as I've put it off for too long since downsizing my stationery/invitation business last year. I just can't justify taking up the whole front of our home anymore. We all miss the space and hanging out in there together. The trade-off is that the new space will finally get a much needed facelift :)

I know I'm lucky to have any space at all to call my own never mind one with a door on it! I commend the artists that make art at kitchen tables and/or cramped quarters (I know what that's like because that's where I started making my cards!!)

Anyhow, cheers and looking forward to sharing this and hopefully inspiring you in some way!

I love the apple! I'm about to do one too ( a series of fruit and veg hopefully!) but love love this green one of yours. As for organizing, oh dear, I'm still trying to organize my space, it seems to be in a constant state of flux, and I wish you the best of luck :)
