Inspire Me Thursday - 'newspaper'

Macy's advertisement from last Sunday's newspaper and a handcut stencil
(which I didn't end up using)

Added gesso to soften & mute it overall, then added artist crayons to bring out my focal point...the hands....i LOVE to incorporate them into a piece....they are so expressive and of course are my favorite tool, way better than paintbrushes at times - not as indispensible as pencils tho :)

'untitled', mixed media watercolor journal

Defined the sleeves a bit more, muted out the bracelets & added a ring and stem w/leaves. I originally thought I wanted a blush-pink rose, huge in bloom, but decided on a minimalist look. I still want to add a quote along the edge of the sleeves as this journal is dedicated to quotes /self-portraits...

Journaling with found imagery has such instant gratification, it's so easy & quick to do. I hope I've inspired you to try this...

  4. Love this Laura... I just came back from a workshop with Misty Mawn where we did similar pieces focusing on the face using magazine photos. I love what you did with the hands... hope you're doing well!

  12. You make me want to run to my studio and make one of these!! I noticed it first in your banner and thought how lovely ... and now I see you've taught us how to do it. I came here from Debbie Egizio when she posted that you had won her giveaway -- I'm glad you won so I could come and find you!

You inspired me and the word I need to type for moderation is "enspir" -- how fitting!

  13. Dear Laura I was wondering if you would like to join me in a diptych for Chrysti's decorate prompt? I couldn't find your email. I wrote to you here once before.

  14. Hi Laura. Yes I would love to collaborate together.

    My email is treeoflife@optusnet.com.au

I was thinking maybe we could
try sharing one photo each to each other to collaborate on?

That way we both get to share a photo each where we're at .. for this prompt (which might not match yet)

And then get to respond to each other as well.

That would mean two diptychs like Susan and Chrysti are doing.

    Do you have a Flickr?
Maybe we could use the FAMILY filter and put our pic on there to show each other? so no one else sees it

We could add each other as contact/family. I don't have anyone else on that filter .. Or do you need to keep it for other work?

    What do you think?

    This is my Flickr

I don't know your email or flickr
